Camp For a Day in Caibarien

CAMPAMENTO POR UN DIA EN CAIBARIEN

Aunque para muchos quizás parezca una locura, este verano decidimos celebrar un Campamento en la Iglesia por un dia.
La preparación del programa estuvo a cargo del Comité de Educación Cristiana, el dia escogido el sábado 16 de agosto y 40 personas nos reunimos para celebrarlo. Comenzamos con un devocional dirigido por el pastor, luego nos separamos en clases para discutir el texto del año: “ Comprometidos a seguirte” Lucas 9: 57-62. Cuando terminamos este tiempo tuvimos un receso y una buena merienda.
Regresamos al templo los jóvenes y los adultos para recibir un tema titulado “ Violencia ¿ para qué?” impartido por una sicóloga y una joven miembros de la Iglesia, el debate acerca de lo planteado fue muy rico y las posibilidades de trabajo de la Iglesia contra la violencia fueron descubiertas por los que allí estaban.
Luego tuvimos un tiempo de música: el himno del mes, himnos tradicionales, himnos nuevos.
Llegó el almuerzo: un sabroso arroz frito , ensalada y platanitos todo preparado y servido con mucho cariño.
Después de almuerzo: la recreación. Jugamos, nos reímos y terminamos con una tremenda “ guerra de agua” que dejó bien mojado a más de uno de los participantes y también a algunos de los que solo miraban.
La evaluación de este Campamento fue muy buena , muchas personas el domingo en la mañana y en la noche dieron testimonio en la Iglesia de lo que había representado este tiempo en sus vidas.

Although for many this might seem like a piece of silliness, this Summer we decided to celebrate a Camp for a Day at the church n Caibarien. The preparations for the program were the responsibility of the Christian Ed. Committee; the day chosen was Saturday, the 16th. of August, and forty people met to celebrate the occasion.
We began with a devotional led by the Pastor. Later we separated into smaller classes to discuss the "Text of the Year": Committed to Following You, found at Luke 9: 57-62. Upon finishing the discussion we had a recess and a nice snack.
The adults and young people returned to the sanctuary to consider the subject: Violence, why? which was presented by a sociologist and a young member of the congregation. The ensuing debate against violence was very fruitful, turning over new possibilities for the those who attended to get their hands on and work with.
Later we had a time for music. We sang the hymn of the month, traditional hymns, and recently composed hymns.
Then we had lunch: a savory fried rice, salad and small plantains, everything prepared and served with great care.
After lunch was a time for recreation. We played, laughed, and finished with a tremendous water fight, which left more than one of the particpants and bystanders totally drenched.
The evaluation of the camp was very positive, with many people Sunday morning sharing what this time meant to them.
