Browse Ten Years of Cuba Photos
Written by John Walter Friday, 05 March 2010 17:55
We began our relationship with the Iglesia Presbiteriana Reformada en Cuba (IPRC)
in 1999. In the succeeding years we have taken well over eleven thousand pictures of the
churches in El Centro Presbytery. While some have been visited more than others due to
internal infrastructure reasons, most are represented in the albums which will be posted
here soon.
If you are a Facebooker, go to John Walter's page and there you will find all of the photo
albums created as of March 2010. Please leave a comment.

Cuba Partnership and one of the
following projects. 100% of all funds received
will benefit one of the following stated projects:
The New Sanctuary for the IPRC Church in Placetas, 2007 to 2010
This began as a collaboration between the Woodbury
Presbyterian Church, PC(USA) in West Jersey Presbytery and the
IPRC Church in Placetas in 2007. As of March 2010 the condemned
santuary has been razed and the plans finalized for the new
sanctuary. Pastor Aned Machado is coordinating the construction.
Funds received for this project will directly supplement
those already given by Santa Fe, Monmouth, Baltimore, and Cascades
Presbyteries. Funds will be earmarked: Placetas, and will be carried to
Cuba under PC(USA) remittance licence directly to the IPRC Synod for
disbursement to that project.
The Restoration of the IPRC Church in Remedios.
The Remedios Presbyterian Church is the second oldsest in Cuba; founded
in 1902. It was the church Evaristo Collazo, founder of Presbyterianism in Cuba
himself called home. Today it is in need of structural and cosmetic repairs, and high
on the priorities of the IPRC Synod.
Sustain Theological Formation at the Ecumenical Seminary in Matanzas, SET.
With outside aid becoming scarce because of the world financial crisis, the Ecumenical Seminary
in Matanzas, Cuba (SET) is experiencing difficulties maintaining its programs. Give to this project
to train new pastors in both the Presbyterian and Episcopal denominations
The Presbyterian Camp in Santa Clara, CANIP.
CANIP, as it is known, stands for The National Center for Activities for the Presbyterian
Church in Cuba. It is located near Santa Clara, Las Villas Province, El Centro Presbytery.
Each summer all the churches of the PRCC or IPRC use the camp for age specific activities
and other conferences benefiting the local communities. PG Xiomara Arenas Lorenzo is
camp director.
Many of the building of the camp are quite old now and are in need of renovation. The project,
which has attracted off-shore support, is at the top of the list for the IPRC Synod.
